Yogurt Rice

Also known as Daddojanam.

Serves 4 people.


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rice

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 cup water

  • 1-2 cups fresh yogurt

  • 2 tsp oil

  • 1 tsp urad daal (split black gram)

  • 1 tsp jeera (cumin seeds)

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • pinch of hing

  • 2-3 green chili

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • 1 tbsp chopped cilantro

  • a sprig of curry leaves

  • salt to taste

Method:

  1. Wash rice and cook with a cup of milk and a cup of water in a pressure cooker or Instant Pot on the rice setting.

  2. Keep aside until the rice cools down completely.

  3. Heat oil in pan and temper the remaining ingredients and add to rice.

  4. Add yogurt and salt and mix well. Rice will be creamy and tasty.

  5. Serve with pappadam.
