Murukulu can be both spiral shapes or like the shape shown in the picture. Cover the dough with a wet cloth until use. Ingredients are a bit different but the method is the same as janthikulu except we use star shape disc in muruku press. Please take care that the oil fumes do not reach your hands while pressing murukulu. Practice on a plastic sheet if you are using muruku press for the first time.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups rice flour

  • 1 cup urad flour (black gram flour)

  • 2 tbsp white sesame seeds

  • 1 tsp red chili powder

  • 1 tbsp softened butter

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil for deep fry

Method:

  1. Mix all ingredients except for oil and knead into a soft dough using water.

  2. Fix the disc with a star shape in muruku press. Grease the sides of muruku press.

  3. Put the dough into muruku press and make murukulu in hot oil.

  4. Store it in an air container for a week.
